Canton Welcomes Aundi Lesley as New Economic Development Manager
With her wealth of experience, Lesley aims to boost local businesses and cultivate community growth starting November 6
CANTON, GA — Exciting news for the City of Canton! Mayor Billy Peppers recently announced the appointment of Aundi Lesley as the new Economic Development Manager, set to step into her role on November 6, 2024.
In her new position, Lesley will tackle the vital job of marketing and promoting the city, as well as developing programs aimed at attracting potential investors to our vibrant community. “Economic development is crucial to the citizens of Canton and the community as a whole,” said Peppers, praising Lesley’s collaborative spirit and diverse skill set. “I believe her collaboration mentality will work well with other members of Team Canton.”
Currently serving as the Downtown Development Director in Rome, Lesley brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles, including Main Street Director for the City of Carrollton and Program Coordinator for the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center. A proud alumna of the University of West Georgia and Jacksonville State University, she is well-prepared to contribute to Canton’s ongoing growth.
“I am excited to become involved with the City of Canton’s businesses and citizens,” Lesley expressed. “The City has experienced a tremendous amount of growth over the past ten years. I look forward to working with other partners to continue to create an environment for the types of businesses citizens want in the community.”
Lesley’s role will involve close collaboration with local organizations and partners, including the Cherokee County Office of Economic Development, the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, and various nonprofits. Her work will help ensure that Canton remains a beacon of opportunity for businesses and residents alike.
Canton’s search for the perfect candidate included an extensive process with The Chason Group, engaging community and business leaders to discuss both the city’s achievements and challenges moving forward. Now, with Lesley at the helm, there’s plenty of reasons for the community to feel optimistic about the future.
